Pete joins The Back Post on the back of a number of years writing a vlog and attending a large number of matches around the Essex region.
Let’s find out a little more……..
1. How long have you been following non-league football in Essex?
My dad first took me to a non league game back in August/September 1990 as a ten year old boy, and that’s where my love affair first started, so been watching local football for three and a half decades now
2. You have a blog, firstly give us the URL for people to follow. Secondly, you’ve been blogging for a long time too, but how, why, did you start blogging?
The URL is https://pedroslocalfootiefix.blogspot.com/ and I started this blog back in January 2013 whilst still involved with my local side Southend Manor, I felt I wanted to document the games I went to in blog form, it began with a paragraph or two on the game and photos before blossoming into what it is now twelve years later.
3. What has been the motivation to go to non-league games during all the time you’ve been doing this?
Blogging has certainly helped me in terms of adding to my portfolio and yes I have interacted with a lot of people either through my blogs or through other measures in the local game linked to my thoughts and my views written in my blogs.
5. What has been the motivation to go to non-league games during all the time you’ve been doing this?
My love of football for a start, and also I feel closest to my late father (he passed in 2008) at football, as we used to go together up until his later years, so I am doing this for him as well as me. Also I know so many people in the local game now it’s nice to see them and spend time with them when at games too
5. You’ve been a guest host on a radio show. What was it and what did you think about your time there?
I began as a regular guest on East London Radio’s Grassroots Football Show, and after a few appearances was asked to be the full time co host, and this went on for a decade until an extended break last season. I learned a lot whilst being on the show, and we gathered quite a following too, helping me in the local game etc, and with my blogs too. I hope the show will continue as I really enjoyed my time on there, but if it does come back next season it will probably be a monthly show rather than the weekly one it once was.
6. You’re now on a podcast, some may say, a modern medium in this day and age. What are your hopes for the show?
I just hope we can continue to build this blog once it’s up and running, and bring to the listeners/watchers decent content they will enjoy, and have fun doing it because that’s what it’s all about.
7. What do you think you’ll bring to the show?
Vast knowledge of the local game, a bit of humour and light heartedness, and help people who tune in to enjoy the content and what we are bringing to them.
8. If you have one thing to say to clubs and supporters, what would that be?
Try your hardest to be the best you can be in terms of on field and also off field, getting the local community involved as much as you can, and for supporters go and support your local sides and help out in anyway they can, the club will appreciate it for sure.
